SLC's Values
SLC's 5 values are:
Honesty is the value that I align with the most out of these 5. Honesty brings about a sense of trust that I believe is vital in a leadership position cross-culturally. Integrity goes hand in hand with having a strong moral sense and good, valuable ethics. I agree that this is required in a global leadership position. In PRT 359, we did an exercise about ethics and it was interesting to see the different perspectives that were shared throughout the class. It made me think internally about my sense of ethics and how I feel about them. Diversity is a key value in leading multicultural teams. Diversity will come naturally with the input of different cultures and perspectives from your team. Social Responsibility is an important value because it creates an image of credibility that the people you lead or are being led by will recognize. Compassion is the 2nd most value that I align with. I want to be a supportive, interpersonal leader and having compassion is necessary for that to happen. You must understand where people struggle so that you can support and help improve that struggle for them the best way that you can. That is what I believe makes a good leader. |
Management & Leadership Philosophy
When taking PRT 359, we wrote a paper about what our personal management and leadership philosophy would be. We had to answer what kind of leader or style of leadership we would try and incorporate in our future. After taking many leadership assessments and surveys, and being enrolled in the minor, I realized I want to be a relational & supportive leader.
I want to be a leader that "develops strong, relational bonds and relationships...". I think that it is necessary for you to understand the people you are leading or are being led by. You need to recognize their values and beliefs to avoid conflict(s) and promote a trusting relationship. I explain in this paper how if you build close, interpersonal relationships with others, that opens the door for trust. Once you have that connection, it allows for easier communication about the values that each person has. |

PRT 359 Final Presentation on Trust
|
One of the values that really stood out to me about the leaders that we interacted with throughout this program is their sense of trust. They really trust the people that they lead and try to build interpersonal relationships with them.
For our final presentation in PRT 359, the group and I decided to focus it more on the value of trust. We visited TSV Schliersee and interviewed the leader of the club, Hubert Strobl, about his leadership style and connection with the community. And we also interviewed CEO of Crankworx, Georg Spazier about his relationships with his coworkers and about what he thought makes a leader stand out. From both experiences, we recognized that even though Hubert led a more local club, and Georg ran a larger international event, they both relied on trust and a good sense of ethics for their team(s) to run smoothly and efficiently. We talk about it in our presentation on the left. |
