FTM 484 - Strategic Management and Decision Making in Textiles
We started out and ended the program with the Capstone class taught by Dr. Deborah Acker. This class helped us demonstrate leadership competencies through the lens of a global mindset. We had an excursion to Terezin Concentration Camp that showed the impact global leaders can have on certain environments.
While still in Prague, Dr. Helmut H. Hergeth & Dr. Vaclav Svec taught us through the use of case studies and exercises how to identify and analyze challenges and problems that companies face, and how to use decision making tools to make decisions from an international perspective. We had excursions to Prague Airport & Boma Glass Factory to understand how their businesses perform. |

We then went to Reutlingen and were taught by Dr. Leigh Shamblin and Dr. Hazel Gruenwald. They taught how to explore our personalities, strengths, preferences, and leadership styles, as well as how to work within multi-cultural teams. We took the class with German students from Reutlingen University ESB Business School and had an excursion to a Mercedes-Benz factory to see how their teams worked together in a larger setting.
We then headed to Munich to begin a class taught by Kyle Bunds. We studied at TUM University and analyzed ethical problems when considering sports, recreation & tourism. We had excursions to Munich Olympic Park & TSV Schliersee Club to understand the different qualities in leaders. |
Innsbruck, Austria
PRT 359 - Organizational Leadership in Sport, Recreation & Tourism (Location 2)
Last but not least, we finished up PRT 359 in Innsbruck, taught by Jason Bocarro. We analyzed the leadership issues within mega sporting events, such as the Olympics, and the legacy/impact they leave behind. We had excursions to Olympia World and the Olympic Ski Long Jump to learn the management styles associated with those areas.
